Sophos AP6 420E Access Point

The Sophos AP6 420E adds the 6-GHz band to your business wireless network. Three radios serve 2.4, 5 and 6 GHz simultaneously. Compatible Wi-Fi-6E devices can therefore use an additional frequency range while existing devices remain connected over 2.4 or 5 GHz.

For offices and branches with a mixed device population, the AP6 420E combines Wi-Fi 6E with a 2.5-GbE network connection.

With the appropriate subscription, Sophos Fusion lets you manage wireless network names, VLANs and device configuration across multiple locations. Local management remains an alternative for individual access points. AP6 devices are not managed directly through a Sophos Firewall.

WPA3 helps secure your wireless network. Active Threat Response can also isolate dangerous hosts when the access point is registered in Fusion, a valid support subscription is in place and a suitable threat intelligence source is connected.

Does the Sophos AP6 420E support the 6-GHz band?

Yes. The AP6 420E supports 6 GHz in addition to 2.4 and 5 GHz. The additional band requires client devices with Wi-Fi 6E or a suitable newer wireless standard; use also depends on regional approval.

What does the support and services package include?

The subscription required for each access point includes Sophos Fusion management, firmware updates, personal Sophos support around the clock and Advanced RMA for advance replacement under the applicable service conditions.

What is the limited lifetime warranty?

The hardware warranty is included with the AP6 purchase and is independent of the support subscription. Under Sophos warranty conditions, it ends no later than the model’s end of life. ‘Lifetime’ therefore does not mean an unlimited warranty period. Advanced RMA is an additional service provided by the subscription.

What are Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E?

Wi-Fi 6 uses the 802.11ax standard on 2.4 and 5 GHz. Wi-Fi 6E extends this to 6 GHz. Existing devices can continue using the frequency bands they support.

What are the benefits of Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E?

Wi-Fi 6 uses available radio capacity more efficiently, particularly with multiple active devices. Wi-Fi 6E provides additional spectrum. The actual benefit depends on client devices, radio conditions and network connectivity.

Why is there a support and services subscription?

It adds cloud management, updates and personal assistance to the included local management and hardware warranty. Without a valid subscription, you cannot make access point changes in Sophos Fusion. This hardware version does not include a power adapter or PoE injector.
